About Able Cresting
Able Cresting was founded by Don and Carol Haviland in 1996 as a home-based business.
From a young age, I always imagined owning a business and thought that given my background in athletics, it would have something to do with that.
Little did I know, during my time as an Area Recreation manager for the City of Abbotsford, my wish would come true, and the idea of an embroidery company was born. A year before I concluded employment with the city, we started Able Cresting & Embroidery (the original name), and the journey has not yet ended. We had no market research and no business plan, but we had determination and enthusiasm and pushed forward with this upstart business.
What is the story behind the name Able Cresting?
The name Able Cresting was created based on the following ideas: My wife’s name is Carol Ann and I wanted to use her initials in the name. To be listed first in the yellow pages (remember yellow pages?), it was necessary to switch the letters to AC. It did not take us long to figure out what the A would stand for. For the business to succeed it would take God’s intervention. God is truly ABLE to do all things. Thus the word Able was decided on. We decided to use the word Cresting because we thought most people would understand what that meant, and it started with a C . Thus, Able Cresting.
26 years later, it still works! God has sustained us through the good and bad, and we are grateful and blessed. We love what we do! So many great people have allowed us to help them with their events, clubs, teams, and businesses. It has been a great ride.
Our success is due to one key factor — truly exceptional customer service. We take the time to understand our customer’s needs, whilst making knowledgeable recommendations and following up on orders to ensure on-time delivery. We take these important steps in every sale to provide our customers with a great experience and product.
While the company is still family owned and operated, it has grown tremendously, now occupying a large showroom and production facility on Wheel Avenue in Abbotsford, B.C. where we continue to do what we love!
